The clean waters complimented by the lush green Coconut and Casuarina trees along the shores with white sand all around is easily one of the most beautiful beaches in the Konkan region.  About 32 kms away from Alibaug is a village called Kashid. It is tucked between two rocky hillocks. This beach town is popular destination with the Mumbaikars and is often referred to as mini-Goa.

Tourism –

This place is crowded with tourists. Given its proximity to Mumbai and Pune it is a favorite place for day picnics. The tourists flock here to visit Murud which is a village close by and has plenty of water sports to indulge in. There are also lot of shacks by the beach offering food. The strategically placed hammocks are ideal to relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets as the day comes to an end. For those who want to stay overnight can find a host of options be it in resorts, hotels or even homestays. There are also local food stalls offering vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. During the monsoons the beaches are deserted, and all the water sports and food stalls are shut for the season.

On the right-hand side of the Kashid beach there is construction work in progress for a huge jetty. Soon it may be possible that water-based tourist services maybe started. This is certainly something to look forward to for all travel enthusiasts.
