Kashi Vishweshvara is one of the temples in Alibag from Aangre era. The Kashi Vishweshvara temple in the middle of the city is a great place of worship for the people of Alibag.

The History –

Kashi is a very sacred place in India. Kashi Vishweshwar is known as the form of Lord Shiva. Since Kashi is a far away place from Alibaug, it is not possible for everyone to go there, due to which the chieftains of that time established Kashi Vishweshvara.

Many temples were established and restored in this area during Angre’s reign, this is one of them. In earlier times this temple must have been made of stone and later this temple was built anew. Some old stones are found in this area. It is said that earlier there was a Pushkarini (Stepped well ) in front of this temple. There is a spacious space inside the temple and there is a Shivpindi in the deep space in the middle. The roof of the temple is made up of clay tiles.

Festivals –

Abhishekam and Maha Pooja are performed here on every Monday of the month of Shravan. A big festival is also celebrated here on Mahashivratri.
