Starting from Chaul square, one can reach Bhowale lake with a distance of 1.5 to 2 km on left side. The way to the temple starts from the lake. This temple was built around the first half of the 18th century. In 1810, a devotee of Shree Datta was residing here. In 1830 the deepmala was build In 1834 circumambulation road was built. Pradakshina Marg and Kalas were built.
Between 1843 and 1852, Ganesh Bhat Gujarati Prabhaskar built a mandap and a house here, but since it was difficult to climb here, Narayan Ramchandra Khatri built a path of 750-800 steps in 1857. In 1857, a beautiful six-armed three-faced stone idol of Shree Datta was installed next to the padukas.
After climbing about seven and a half hundred steps, Swami Samarth Akkalkot Residential Math is on the left side. Then there is the Auditorium, Samadhi Sadhana Kuti, Pathare Kshatriya Pachakalsi community rest house, Dhuni Mandir. It is an important place for the Pathare Kshatriya Pachakalsi community and Dutt Jayanti is celebrated here with great vigour.

The surrounding area of several kilometers can be seen from the mountain. Agarkot of Revdanda, Korlai Fort, Revdanda and Agrav Bay can be seen in the west. The hill of Hingulja Devi can be seen in the north.
On the footpath leading to Datta Mandir from Bhowale, there is a large African Baobab tree on the right side of the route. This tree is very old and rare. Another such tree is found in Varsoli in Alibaug.
A little further from Bhowale, there is a newly constructed road through Sarai village. You can go up this road by car.
Festivals – A grand fare is held here every year on the day of Sri Datta Jayanti, and continues for five days. Also various programs like Bhajan, Kirtana are organized in the temple.
