The ‘Alibag Beach’ is one of the most famous beaches in Konkan. The dramatic views and awe-inspiring scenery, the casuarina trees lined on the Alibag Beach makes for a beautiful view.
Tourism –
The beach barely 2 kms away from the Alibag bus stop is a huge attraction amongst not only the Indians but also foreign tourists. It is known for various water activities such as Banana rides, jet-skis, fishing trips, para motor rides and bumpy rides. Tourists can also spend time in leisure and marvel at the Arabian seas as the sun sets down. The Alibaug beach has several tourist attractions close by hence is an ideal weekend getaway. While most people prefer visiting a beach in summers there is certain charm to visit this picturesque beach in the monsoons.
Alibaug has a number of well-equipped and affordable budget friendly cottages and resorts at the beach. The locals put up food stalls at the beach which the visitors love to indulge in. Local home cooked meals prepared with locally sourced fresh ingredients are easily available here. People especially travel to eat authentic local sea food and is a paradise for foodies. Due to its proximity the Alibaug beach is one of the favorite weekend destinations for people from Pune and Mumbai.
Kolaba fort –
The Kolaba fort is a historical landmark amid the Arabian Sea and a popular tourist place. This was the last fort built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during his reign. The Kolaba fort is only about 2 kms from the Alibaug beach and offers a panoramic sight from the shores. To visit this fort tourists can take a bullock cart ride or just walk across as the sea ebbtides.
Selfie point
A very recent addition to the Alibaug beach is the Selfie point. Taking selfies against the big Alibaug beach sign is a must for everyone travelling here.
T55 Tank
T55 Tank which played a key role in the 1971 Indo-Pak war can be seen on the shores of the Alibaug beach. This has become a major attraction for tourists arriving in the city.
Other attractions
The Alibaug Magnetic Observatory is one of the first geomagnetic observatory of India set up in Alibaug. It is one of the popular places to visit that every tourist should have on their Alibaug travel itinerary. The J.S.M college is walking distance from the Varsoli beach. When you turn left you see the Nagaon beach shoreline and on the right is the scenic Khanderi and Underi historic forts.
