Wild Animal Bird Census -
Nature Experience Program 2024-25
The event gets organized every year by the forest officials of Phansad Forest Sanctuary on behalf of the government. As a part of this, the alibagonline team also participated in animal census at Phansad this year. As this news came a month in advance, various animal and bird lovers registered their names. As planned on 23rd May, everyone gathered near the main entrance at Supegaon of Phansad. Later, Forest Range Officer Mr. Tushar Kalbhor and his full team took charge of the program. After the introduction about the program, everyone was introduced. And 13 groups were formed, one forest guard to each group, and a watershed/Gaan assigned to them. As the water in the lake decreases during the summer days, small artificial water bodies are created here at many places, and water is added to them every alternate day.
After the evening tea, all the teams went to their assigned places, taking the dinner boxes with them. A sheet for animal enumeration was also provided. The next program was to sit overnight on a platform built atop tree near the water body and record the animal sightings as well as the sounds of various birds. The most important thing is that no matter how talkative you are, here you don’t have to utter a word, and possibly not even move. Because some small wild animals are likely to move away after hearing your voice and movement.
