Padmadurga , historical sea fort built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is an impenetrable fort for the enemy. It is located in the deep sea near Murud , built on a rocky Island .The shape of the Fort is like a lotus and hence its name Padma Durga. The fort was built as a part of a strategy in conquering Siddi’s Janjira Fort located in the waters of Rajapuri creek. This Fort served as a outpost for Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Army .
Padmadurga Jagar 2024
On 4th February , ‘Padmadurga Jagar 2024 ‘ was celebrated on this Fort with the combined efforts of ‘Jagar Sanstha’, Murud and ‘Konkan Kada Mitra Mandal ‘. Many ardent worshipers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj from Murud as well as from other parts of Maharashtra attended this ceremony . Team of ‘Alibaug online’ was present at that time.
The event was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm . Nothing better than a forceful and inspiring Powada to start the event! At the entrance of the fort of Pooja was performed by the host. Later on the event was carried out inside the open field. Rituals like’ Abhishek ‘ of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj followed by ‘Aarti’ were carried out.
The palanquin of Maharaj was accompanied by everyone present on the Fort which encircled the tatbandhi or defensive wall of the Fort. Goddess Koteshwari was also worshipped. The entire rituals were carried by the priest with such dedication that for a moment we felt like we were experiencing the coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Artists displayed different heroic skills that fascinated the audience.
The ceremony was carried out in a cheerful and pleasant atmosphere . Luckily, the temperature was not so high. After reaching the Fort, breakfast was provided and at the end of the program, Lunch was arranged. The team of ‘Alibaug online’ got the opportunity to meet the head of the Padma Durga Jagar Sansthan.
Best care possible of each and everyone was taken in the ceremony . Emphasis needs to be given on the cleanliness of the Fort maintained by ‘Padma Durga Jagran Sansthan’ and ‘Konkan Kada Mitra Mandal’.
