Murud Janjira is located 50 km south of Alibaug. On the way to Murud, famous places like Akshi, Nagaon, Chaul, Revdanda, Korlai, Kashid, Nandgaon pass. We travel from Alibaug to Revdanda through green villages covered with dense coconut and betel nut trees, then we see the green mountains on the left and the vast ocean on the right. While entering Murud, one can see the Siddhi Palace on the right side, and the clean and beautiful beach stretching far beyond.

As you enter Murud, you immediately see a long beach on your right. This beach is one of the rarest beach which has a completely straight length of 3 to 4 km. Padmadurg-Kasa Fort is the first thing that comes into view when one comes to the shore. On the left side is Ekdara or Danda Rajpuri Hill and Danda Rajpuri Fort or Samrajgarh. Siddhi’s palace is visible on the right side. Seagull birds come in large numbers on the beach.

Tourism –

Murud is only 50 km from Alibaug, it attracts many tourists from Mumbai. Since Murud is only 150 km from Pune via Tamhini, tourists from here also prefer Murud. There are many tourist attractions in Murud, one of which is the beach. Different water sports are available here for tourists.

Many hotels are available along the beach side. Many tourists come here especially to enjoy the sea-food. On the beach side there is a coconut tree that bends completely into the sea.

Festivals –

Ganesh idol immersion is done on the beach itself during Ganesh festival. At this time the shore gets completely full with devotees. All the devotees, Ganeshotsav mandals bring Ganesha idol to the beach and perform Aarti and then bid a heartfelt farewell to their Bappa.

The New Year is also welcomed on the coast with great zeal and enthusiasm. Various entertainment programs are held here on New Year’s Eve.
