Shree Ram Temple Ramnath, adjacent to Alibaug, also bears witness to the history of the period of Kanhoji Aangre. Information about the temple was obtained from Nirupa Parekh, the owner of the temple premises and chief trustee of Sri Ramji Devasthan Ramnath.
Roughly two hundred and thirty years old, this Shree Ram Temple Ramnath was built by Kanhoji Angre’s Dewan Shri Govind Reva Sheth in memory of his brother. The main gabhara of the temple and the round dome in front were built initially in solid stone and the outer wooden sabhamandapa with clay tile roof was built later. In the gabhara there are beautiful marble idols of Sri Rama, Sita and Lakshmana. A lot of old trees are found in the surrounding area of about seven acres. Right in front of the temple is a Pokhran (stepped well) and around it are two Deepmalas (verticle columns of lights) and two Tulsi Vrindavans. At the back of the temple on the right is another large Pokhran. In front of the temple on the right is a big Peepal tree about two hundred years old. Under it there is a temple of Lord Hanuman, many devotees also come here.
Ramnavami is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the temple. Earlier this festival used to last for nine days. From Gudhi Padwa to Ram Navami, the festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm with bhajan kirtan.
