0

In front of Janjira fort on the mainland is Rajpuri. To the east of Rajpuri is Kharshet, a desolated village. Previously, ‘Khokari’ was its adjacent village. In Khokari, is a big stone mausoleum, a monument built in the Indo-Saracenic style – Khokari Tombs. It is the tomb of Siddi Sirur. There are two other tombs , out of which one is of Yakut Khan, [Nawab of Janjira from 1670 to1677, then Chief of the Mughal fleet from1677 to 1691 and again Nawab of Janjira from 1696 to 1707].

The other tomb is of his brother Khairiyat Khan, [Administrator of Danda–Rajpuri from 1670 to1677 and of Janjira from 1677 to 1696]. There are many tombs which are scattered all around the Khokari Tomb. Two Arabic language inscriptions are found here near Yakut Khan’s tomb and Khairiyat Khan’s tomb.
