Aamras

Aamras

All the juices of the world on one side and Aamras on the other!!

The juicy, all-yellow Alphanso mangoes from Konkan are the real deal. It is the diamond of Konkan. It has absolutely no competition. You can eat this with puri (puffed Indian roti) or just enjoy it purely. Have it as a dessert after your meal or have it before. Nowadays you will find some really great ice cream desserts made with this. In Pune you even get a mango-flavored Mastani. If you want to have Aamras then it has to be made with Alphanso mangoes. Aamras and Alphanso u2013 this is a solid combination. The rest of the Mango varieties are average as compared to the Alphanso mango.

Take a few juicy mangoes from the wooden box (this box is made out of mango wood) and soak them in water for some time. Then squeeze out the mango pulp. Now a days you can use a mixer/grinder to make smooth, thick, and textured mango juice. Add a bit of sugar and cardamom powder for flavour then keep it in the refrigerator for a while. This will make it more fun eating chilled Aamras. Oh and donu2019t forget whenever you make Aamras you should make a bit extra because eating Aamras fills your stomach but not your mind. One thing is for sure here the math of the mind and the stomach definitely goes wrong.

Okay now that you have had Aamras further on, that is a different fun dish called Aambapoli (a dish where Aamras is flattened out like a flatbread). You should try making it. So your plan for the next summer vacation should be travel to Alibaug and enjoy mangoes to your heartu2019s content.
